CDPHP Is Starting Something BIG in 2012
CDPHP has adopted Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Capital Region as its 'charity of choice' for 2012. Locally, for more than 40 years, BBBS has provided children facing adversity with strong, enduring, life-changing, positive relationships with caring adults. In doing so, BBBS takes responsibility for ensuring that the 700+ children they serve each year: • Develop higher aspirations, greater confidence, and better relationships • Avoid risky behaviors • Achieve greater success in school
The organization accomplishes this by carefully matching each child with an adult mentor. To help ensure that these pairings have the intended impact – to change the child’s life for the better and forever – BBBS provides ongoing professional support, advice, supervision, and training throughout the life of the match.
CDPHP is launching a year-long effort to support the important mission of BBBS by promoting volunteerism among its employees and and hosting numerous fundraising activities.
CDPHP Supports the Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless
CDPHP is pleased to support Albany's Interfaith Partnership for the Homeless and its Sheridan Hollow Drop-In Center, the only shelter in Albany County providing a warm, safe, and supportive environment during the day for homeless families and individuals.
The Drop-in Center is unique in Albany County, offering a safe haven during the day for homeless individuals and those who are at risk of homelessness. The Center assists individuals and families as they move toward self-sufficiency by providing case management services and weekly life skills training, in addition to shower and laundry facilities, a community room, play area for children, daily meal, lockers, access to an office for business purposes, a clothing pantry, and bus token program. The facility also hosts several onsite social service agencies offering legal services, mental health outreach, employment and housing assistance, and healthy low-cost cooking workshops.
The CDPHP Farmers' Market

The CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge: Where Work and Play Unite
For the third year in a row, CDPHP will be the lead sponsor of the Workforce Team Challenge, the largest annual road race between Utica and New York City. This year, the 3.5-mile race/walk, will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2012 at the Empire State Plaza in Albany. Last year's event broke all previous attendance records, attracting more than 9,200 registered runners/walkers representing 470 organizations.
Open to teams from area businesses and organizations, the race helps to underwrite the programs and services of the Hudson Mohawk Road Runners Club (HMRRC), one of the largest running clubs in the nation. The Club offers scholarships to college-bound high school seniors, grants for youth running programs, seminars and clinics for runners, in addition to coordinating local running events throughout the year and publishing a monthly running magazine.
This year, participant contributions will also support a local charity, which has yet to be named. Stay tuned for more information!
